Here’s a realistic portrait of a Sami girl that I want to stylize into something more toon-like:
I’m doing this to avoid the manga pettern (I’m trying to get out of that pattern)

I also made this sketches of her proportions and clothes, with colour:

If you look closely you can see that the plans I had for her accessories have changed.
Instead of having a lot of accessories around her body I have decided to concentrate all of them around her neck: A feather (the bird), a shaman drum stick (not one of the symbols, but a ‘key’) and a symbol for the snake (I need to think more about that one and find a symbol in the modeling process)
Winter clothes with Sami patterns to show her Sami side. Symbols of Sami culture was looked down upon and mostly not allowed in schools so the other Sami were dressed more Norwegian-like than Áile. This makes her different. She’s more of a rebel.
Insulated synthetic (polyester) pants (planning to have yellow retroreflector stripes on the legs to make the pants more “modern”) – She doesn’t like this but she also has to bow for the Norwegianisation
The wool sweater is more neutral. The reindeer pattern makes it more Sami though. The same goes for the mittens and the scarf – but at the same time it makes her look less Sami.
