Useful information about the Samis: (Things I already know)

- Samis were like native Americans in many ways. They lived as one with nature and worshipped it.

- around 1840, most of the Sami converted to Christianity.

- Sami live in northern Scandinavia – where it’s cold, so they need warm clothes.

- The best known Sami livelihood is semi-nomadic reindeer herding

- The Sami used to live in Siida (small family groups that had their own herd of reindeer). The Siida often cooperated with each other in reindeer herding.

- The Sami people have inhabited the northern regions of northern Scandinavia and Russia for at least 2500 years.
